Join us at Hallo! in viewing the four times Oscar winning British historical film drama “The King’s Speech”. The story of King George VI of Britain, his impromptu ascension to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it.

Directed by the fantastic Tom Hooper, The King’s Speech saw box office sales soar. The film tells the story of King George VI, the father of England’s beloved Queen Elizabeth II. After his brother abdicates the throne, George reluctantly takes on the responsibility.

George is plagued by a dreaded stammer in his speech, and feels he is unfit to be a King.  He seeks the help of a wise but wacky Australian speech therapist named Lionel Logue. Trials and tribulations follow the King and Lionel through a set of unexpected and rather humorous speech techniques, an unlikely friendship forms, and the King is finally able to find his voice and boldly lead the country through war. Three cheers for the King!!

Colin Firth leads a fantastic performance, and Helena Bonham Carter does our Queen Elizabeth II excellent justice.

No Reservations is a 2007 American romantic drama film, directed by Scott Hicks.

Kate is a terrific chef at Manhattan restaurant 22 Bleeker. She is sent to therapy by the restaurant owner because she is cold, hard, rule-bound, and nervous.

Kate’s world changes when her only sister dies, and her ten-year-old niece, Zoe, comes to live with her. As Kate struggles to be a parent to a grief-stricken child, the one world she used to control – the restaurant kitchen – is changed utterly by the restaurant’s hiring a second chef, the relaxed, opera-loving, Italian-trained Nick, who claims it’s an honor to work in Kate’s kitchen but who she suspects wants to replace her.

 Can the music of Puccini and the taste of good pasta soften Kate’s heart?

portrayed by Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest, Anthony Michael Hall, Kathy Baker,

Vincent Price, and Alan Arkin.
